Hydration Tips

Hydration through foods

  • Eat plenty of carbohydrates such as whole grains, breads, pastas, and bananas.
  • Take the value of your weight divided by two and drink that amount in ounces everyday.
  • Before class, eat fruits and vegetables. They are water based and will keep you hydrated.
  • Avoid salt and sodium packed foods as well as fried foods, caffeine, and alcohol.
  • Drink twenty ounces of water two to three hours before class and another ten ounces ten minutes before class.
  • Sports drinks replenish electrolytes for workouts lasting more than one hour.
  • Caffeine free herbal teas also help with hydration as well as natural juices.
  • Bananas and granola bars may also be eaten before class.
